Corpus Shoots 71 Sunday As Spartans Finish 15th

Tempe, Ariz.-Cristina Corpus shot a one-under 71 on Sunday to help the Spartans finish 15th at the PING/ASU Invitational Sunday afternoon at the Karsten Golf course.


Corpus made five birdies during her round including three consecutive on holes one, two and three.  Corpus started her round with bogeys on the 10thth holes as the Spartans started their round on the back nine first.  She then made a birdie on 14 before her three consecutive holes and made her final birdie on the seventh. and 11


Madeleine Ziegert shot a 74 Sunday including a birdie on the 12th hole.  Shraddhanjali Singh shot a 75, while Katrina Delen-Briones and Jody Ho each had a 77 in their final round.


"We played better today," said Spartan head coach John Dormann.  "With today's round, we were concentrating on playing our game and getting ready for next week's WAC Championships.  We were driving the ball nicely, but we still need to make some putts."


San Jose State now competes at the 2010 Western Athletic Conference championships next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, April 19-21, at the Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz.  Admission to the event is free, and live scoring will be provided at with a link on the Spartan web site under "Live".  The Spartans will tee off at 7:30 a.m. next Monday along with Fresno State.
