Women's Golf 14th At PING/ASU Invitational

Tempe, Ariz.-Cristina Corpus led the San Jose State women's golf team with an even-par 72 in her first round Friday, and the Spartans are 14th with a 301 after the first round of the PING/ASU Invitational.  One of the premier tournaments in the west, 15 of the top 45 teams in the country are playing the Karsten Golf Course.

Corpus shot the best round of the day for the Spartans with her 72 to tie for 24th place.  She made nine consecutive pars to start her round, birdied 10 and 14 but bogeyed 13 and 17 to finish with her 72.

Madeleine Ziegert and Shraddhanjali Singh each shot a three-over par 75.  Ziegert made birdies on the fifth and 10th holes, while Singh started her round with a birdie on the first hole and added birdies on the 14th and 17th holes. 

Katrina Delen-Briones shot a 79 for her round which included two birdies, while Jody Ho shot an 86 Friday which included two birdies.

Day two tee-off times begin at 8 a.m. The Spartans will start teeing off at 8:40 a.m. on the 10th tee with Texas and Washington. Live scoring is available at www.golfstatresults.com.
