De Guzman 5th, Spartans 7th At Anuenue Spring Break

Kapalua, Hawaii—Regan De Guzman shot a two-over 74 to end Tuesday in fifth place at two-under 142, and the San Jose State women’s golf team is seventh at 595 after shooting a 301 in the second round of the Anuenue Spring Break Classic at The Bay Course in Kapalua, Maui.

After shooting a four-under 68 on Monday, De Guzman found herself clawing her way from behind as she bogeyed three of her first six holes.  She then made a birdie on the par-5 #6 but bogeyed par-4 #9 to finish with a 38 over the first nine holes.  De Guzman started her last nine holes with a birdie on #10 and made pars on her final eight holes to end the day at two-over 74.

Jennifer Brumbaugh and Megan Osland finish the day tied for 33rd at 149.  Brumbaugh shot a 74 on her round Tuesday with birdies on #14 and #1, her final hole of the day.  Osland is the second Spartan to record an eagle on the par-5, 451-yard #15, after recording hers on Tuesday.  Osland shot a 75 and had 12 pars on her round. 

Kathleen Rojas is tied for 62nd at 156 after shooting a 78 on Tuesday and made three birdies on her round.  Rachelle Reali is tied for 72nd at 157 after recording an 80 with two birdies on her second round.

San Jose State ended the day in seventh place at 595.  The Spartans are just four shots away from Denver in fifth place at 591. 

Final round action begins Wednesday with a shotgun start at 7:45 a.m. HT/10:45 a.m. PDT.  Live scoring is available on www.golfstat.com.  San Jose State will play with Denver, Stanford and Oregon in the final round Wednesday, starting on holes 4, 5, 6 and 7.
