Denver-After winning her first collegiate tournament over the weekend, San Jose State women's golfer Jennifer Brumbaugh has been named the Verizon Western Athletic Conference Women's Golfer of the Week.
A junior from Scotts Valley, Brumbaugh won the Mountain View Collegiate on the second playoff hole. She carded a 7-under par 209 (69-67-73) and had to birdie the last two holes of the third round to force a playoff. In the first round, Brumbaugh had a hole-in-one on the par-3 13th, the first for a Spartan since 2006. She is also the first San Jose State player to ever shoot sub-70 rounds on the same day. It is the first time in her career that Brumbaugh has won a WAC golfer of the week or month award.
San Jose State next plays at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate, April 16-17, in Half Moon Bay, Calif.
