Women's Golf At MountainView Collegiate This Weekend

After rain washed away the Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational, the San Jose State women’s golf team competes in a tournament for the first time since February. The Spartans travel to the MountainView Collegiate March 28-29, in Tucson, Ariz.

The two-day tournament will be contested at the MountainView Golf Course in Tucson. The par-72 course will play at 6,263 yards. The tournament begins with a 36-hole shot gun start on Saturday, March 28, and 18-hole shot gun start on Sunday, March 29. Both days start at 8 a.m.

The 19-team field features four teams ranked in the top-50 of the Golfstat ranking as of March 25 Louisville (18), San Jose State (21), UNLV (31) and Colorado (37).

The San Jose State lineup includes Erica Moston, Cristina Corpus, Shraddhanjali Singh, Madeleine Ziegert and Katrina Delen-Briones.

The Spartans have not competed in a tournament since winning the Aztec Invitational in February, where Moston finished second individually. San Jose State did win two dual matches last week over California and Princeton.

“It is nice to finally be playing in an event with a full field,” said San Jose State head coach John Dormann. “Everyone on our team can shoot under par on this golf course, and we need to stay focused for all 54 holes.”

Last year, the Spartans finished second at the tournament with an 889, nine shots behind first-place Indiana. Moston was second individually with an even par 216, and shot her first under-par round of her career with a 68 in the first round.
