Juli Inkster and Pat Hurst, two of the iconic names of San Jose State University women's golf, are teaming together for the 2015 Solheim Cup.
Inkster, the most successful United States player in the history of the competition against Europe's best players, was introduced as the team captain for the 2015 U.S. team at the JTBC Founders Cup LPGA Tournament in Phoenix, Ariz., earlier this week.
The San Jose State Sports Hall of Fame Legend and member of the World Golf Hall of Fame played in nine Solheim Cups and won 18.5 points for the U.S. - tops in both categories. She holds the unique distinction as the only golfer to play for a U.S. Solheim Cup team and serve as assistant captain simultaneously when she did it in 2011.
Inkster's assistant captain will be Hurst, the 1989 NCAA medalist as a Spartan sophomore. Hurst is familiar with Solheim Cup competition, too, representing the United States five times.
Held biennially, the next Solheim Cup will be played in 2015 hosted by the Europeans in St. Leon-Rot, Germany.
