Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational Rained Out

San JoseThe 2009 Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational has been cancelled Tuesday afternoon due to the rainy conditions at the Almaden Country Club.

The 16 collegiate teams were not able to finish the first round Tuesday morning before the rainy conditions hampered completion of the first round. Most teams were able to compete 12 holes before being called off the course at 11 a.m., Tuesday for the last time.

“This is very disappointing for myself and San Jose State,” said Spartan head coach John Dormann. “We had a very good field of teams for the tournament and wanted everyone to have a positive experience on this golf course. The rain was just too much today, and the wind was making ball striking difficult.

“We tried everything to make the course playable for the athletes. However, the rain just didn’t let up enough today for us to finish the first round.”

San Jose State returns to action at the Mountain View Collegiate in Tucson, Ariz., on March 28-29.
