Women's Golf Leads Spartan Invitational After 18

San Jose, Calif.-----Kanika Minocha posted a career-best one-over par 73 leading San Jose State to the opening round lead in the Spartan Invitational women's golf tournament at the Almaden Country Club. Round two results will be posted later in the day.

The Spartans have a 297 team score on the par 72, 6,179-yard course and hold a one-stroke lead over UC irvine and a two-shot advantage over California, which is at 299.

Defending champion Selanee' Henderson of UC Irvine is the only player under par at one-under 71. She has a one shot lead over Washington's Christina Yoon and UC Irvine's Kim Lorenzana.

Erica Moston of San Jose State, last week's Western Athletic Conference golfer of the week, also is in the top-10 among the 75 players. She is tied for seventh at 74.

The 54-hole tournament continues with 18 holes on March 3 and concludes with 18 holes on March 4.
