Women's Golf Second After First Round of Aztec Invitational

Chula Vista, Calif.In the first round of the spring season, three Spartan women’s golfers shot par or better and are in the top-10 heading into action on Monday.  San Jose State finished the first day with an even-par 288 to finish second, one shot behind UC Irvine at the Aztec Invitational being played on the par-72 Salt Creek Golf Course in Chula Vista, Calif.

Erica Moston led the Spartans with a three-under par 68 to tie for second place, one shot behind leader Hilary Packard of UC Irvine who shot a 67.  Moston recorded her eighth round under par and third round in the 60s this season.  She had six birdies on her round, the most in one round for her this season.

Katrina Delen-Briones shot her best round of the year with a two-under par 70 and is tied for fourth-place.  She had five birdies on the day including four on the back-nine. 

Shraddhanjali Singh shot an even-par 72 to tie for 10th place after the round.  She shot her second-best round of the season.  Singh recorded five birdies on the day.

Other scores for the Spartans included Cristina Corpus who shot a 77 and Madeleine Ziegert who had a 78.  Jody Ho, playing as an individual, shot an 81.
