Women's Golf Begins Spring Season This Weekend

With classes three weeks into the semester, the San Jose State women's golf team returns to the links this weekend at the Peg Barnard Invitational at Stanford on Saturday and Sunday at the Stanford Golf Course.

The team will play 18 holes on Saturday with a shotgun start at 9 a.m., followed by 18 holes on Sunday with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. Admission is free for spectators.

Teams playing the tournament include Arizona, California, Fresno State, Hawaii, Long Beach State, Oregon, Stanford, Texas, UC Davis and Washington.

The Spartan lineup consists of Madeleine Ziegert, Katrina Delen-Briones, Cristina Corpus, Shraddhanjali Singh and Jody Ho. Kim Punyasavatsut will compete as an individual.

San Jose State played a very competitive schedule in the fall with one fifth-place and two sixth-place finishes. Delen-Briones had her best start as a Spartan and leads the team with a 72.92 stroke average. She won her first collegiate tournament at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational.
