Las Vegas, Nev.--The San José State women's golf team shot its second consecutive under-par round at the Las Vegas Collegiate Shootout and moved up to second place in the team standings at 14-under par after two rounds at the Boulder Creek Golf Club.

The Spartans are just one shot ahead of Missouri who shot an even-par 288 and are 13-under par after two rounds.  Three other teams are still under par for the tournament.

Elizabeth Schultz shot another bogey-free round on Monday with a two-under 70 and ended the day in fifth place at seven-under 137. She had another productive day with 16 pars made and birdies on the fifth and 16th holes.

Alexandra Cooper shot her second consecutive three-under 69 and is tied for sixth place at six-under 138. She also had a mostly productive round, making a bogey and eight pars to start her round. On the back nine, Cooper made five consecutive birdies on holes 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14, before ending the round with three pars and a bogey.

Franziska Friedrich shot an even-par 72 and is 21st at one-under143. She made three birdies and three bogeys during her round and ended the day with a birdie on #1. Friedrich made back-to-back birdies on #15 and #16.

Abegail Arevalo is tied for 25th at even-par 144. She shot a one-over 73 in the second round, making 17 pars and one bogey on #18.

Ysabel Tran is tied for 30th at one-over par 145, after shooting a one-over 73 Monday. She made 13 pars, two birdies (#10, 13) and three bogeys during the day.

The Spartans are second at the tournament in pars made with 130, tied for first in scoring on the par-five holes at -11 and second on the par-four holes at -1. Individually, Schultz is tied for second in pars made at 29, while Cooper is tied for sixth in birdies made with nine.

"Once we found our desire to play today, we had a very nice round. We started off slow, then found our rhythm and started making birdies. Alex caught fire making those birdies on the back-nine. Elizabeth managed her round well and made some nice up-and-downs to save pars early in her round. She gave us another solid effort.

"Tomorrow, we just have to put the ball in the right places on this course to give us a chance to make our putts," said Spartan head coach John Dormann.

Third round action begins Wednesday with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. The Spartans will play with UNLV and Missouri for the second day beginning on holes 1, 2, and 3.
