Sammamish, Wash. - The San José State women's golf team shot a final round 316 to finish seventh with a 912 at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational at the Sahalee Country Club. Individually, Megan Osland shot the best Spartan round of the day with a 75 to finish tied for 16th at 225.
Starting on hole 10, Osland shot a 37 on her first nine holes of the day, including a birdie on her first hole. She made just one birdie over her final nine holes to shot a 77 and finish in the top-20 for the first time this season.
Alexandra Kristofersson shot a 78 in her final round and also tied for 16th at 225, her first top-20 finish of the season. She made two birdies in her first four holes of the day and made eight pars in her round.
"Overall, I am very pleased with our improvement we showed at this tournament," said Spartan head coach John Dormann. "We ran out of patience and confidence required to play this golf course today. We lost it on the back nine especially, and I am not sure why that happened."
Stanford won the competition with a one-under 863, 27 shots better than second-place finisher and host Washington. The Cardinal were led by Mariah Stackhouse who won the individual competition with a seven-under 209.
San José State competes at the Stanford Intercollegiate, October 25-27, at the Stanford Golf Course in the final fall competition.
