Leander 18th, Women's Golf Now 9th At Golfweek Challenge

Sept. 24, 2013

Wolcott, Colo.-- My Leander and Rachelle Reali led the San José State women's golf team in the second round of the Golfweek Conference Challenge.  The Spartans are now ninth in the team standings at 632.

Leander shot the team's low score of the day with a 75 and is tied for 18th overall at 154.  She made two birdies, back-to-back on holes #5 and #6, and 12 pars during her round.

Reali shot a 76 on Tuesday.  Over her first nine holes (#10-18), she made two birdies (#12, #15) and three bogeys to shoot a 37.  Reali made one birdie and five pars over her last nine holes.

Megan Osland shot an 80 on Tuesday and is tied with Reali at 31st. Alexandra Kristofersson shot an 81 and is now 60th. Kim Cifuentes shot the tale of nine holes, shooting a 47 over her first nine holes, but rebounding over her final nine holes to shoot even and finished with an 83.  She is now tied for 68th.

"We played a bit better today," said associate head coach Dana Dormann.  "There were some different pin placements on this challenging course.   My and Rachelle had solid rounds for us, and Kim's finish is very encouraging.  Hopefully, we have the course figured out for tomorrow."

The final round on Wednesday begins at 9:00 a.m. MDT with a shotgun start.
