Johnson Named WAC Player Of The Week

DENVER - San Jose State senior forward Brittany Johnson has been named the Verizon Western Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Nov. 28-Dec. 4. This is the first WAC Player of the Week honor of her career.

The Tulsa, Okla., native averaged a double-double of 20.5 points and 10.5 rebounds to go along with 3.5 steals and 2.0 blocks per game as the Spartans won a non-conference game for the first time in nearly two years. Johnson opened the week with 17 points, eight rebounds, four blocks and four steals in the win over Northern Arizona. She then picked up her third double-double of the season at Weber State, finishing with 24 points and 13 rebounds. She also had three assists and three steals as she scored in double figures for the eighth time in as many games this year. Johnson has scored at least 20 points in all but two games this season.

Other nominees included: Madison Parrish of Fresno State averaged 12.5 points and 3.5 assists as the Bulldogs went 1-1 on the week ... Hawai‘i's Kamilah Jackson averaged 15.5 points and 11.0 rebounds as the Rainbow Wahine went 1-1 on their road trip to New York ... Whitney Jones of Louisiana Tech scored 20 points and pulled down a season-high eight rebounds in Tech's only game last week ... Nevada's Kayla Williams averaged 15.0 points and 11.0 rebounds per game last week ... Devyn Christensen of Utah State averaged 13.0 points, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals in two games last week.
