Women’s Hoops Ends Signing Period With Second NLI In Hand

Nov. 15, 2017

San Jose, Calif. – Jamie Craighead, head coach of the San José State women's basketball team, announced the signing of Raziya Potter to a National Letter of Intent on Wednesday. Potter will compete for the Spartans beginning in the 2018-19 school year.

We targeted a few players for the 2018 class,” Craighead said.  “As I said when Miyah (Lewis-Hampton) signed her NLI last week, the bulk of our team is back next year and we were only going to sign players who would help us immediately.  If we didn’t get these two (Lewis-Hampton and Potter) we were not going to sign anyone.  We are ecstatic to have been able to get both.”

Coach Craighead's Comments

“Razi is a very special player. She is what we call a point forward, someone like Draymond Green. She can grab a rebound and become the point guard, take it the length of the court and score or dish. She can knock down the three, shoot from midrange or drive to the bucket. Literally, she can play every position on the court and that is a dimension you don’t normally see at this level. She is a very special player.”
