San Jose, Calif. - San José State women's basketball head coach Tim La Kose announced the team's 2013-14 schedule on Monday. The 30-game schedule includes 17 home dates and 18 games in the team's inaugural season in the Mountain West Conference (MW). The Spartans will face five opponents in 2013-14 that appeared in either the NCAA Tournament or the WNIT in 2013.

"We are really excited about this year's schedule and the challenges it brings," La Kose said. "It will be a good test for our program. I like the structure and form where virtually every week you have big games against top competition. It will make for an exciting year for our fans."

San José State's non-conference schedule brings eight games to The Event Center including an exhibition game against William Jessup on Oct. 30. The rest of the non-conference home schedule features; San Francisco State (Nov. 8), UC Riverside (Nov. 15), Evansville (Nov. 17), San Francisco (Nov. 20), San Diego (Nov. 23), Georgia State (Dec. 18) and UMKC (Dec. 21).

The Spartans' non-conference road slate is highlighted by a trip to Waco, Texas to face Baylor on Dec. 3. The Bears won the 2012-13 Big 12 championship and reached the Sweet-16 of the 2013 NCAA Tournament. The other non-conference road games include Santa Clara (Nov. 12), UC Davis (Nov. 26) and Sacramento State (Dec. 7).

In the Mountain West schedule each team plays eight conference opponents twice and two conference opponents once (one home, one away).

SJSU open conference play on the road at Nevada (8-23, 2-14 MW in 2012-13) on Jan. 1, then returns to Walt McPherson Court on Jan. 4 against Utah State (18-14, 14-4 WAC).

January 8, at Colorado State (11-19, 7-9 MW) and Jan. 11 at New Mexico (17-14, 8-8 MW) are the opponents for the first of two two-game road trips on the conference schedule.

The Spartans host Air Force (4-26, 3-13 MW) on Jan. 15 and Wyoming on Jan. 18. The Cowgirls finished the 2012-13 campaign with 24-8 record and a 12-4 Mountain West mark. They are one of three Mountain West women's basketball teams to appear in a postseason tournament last year, participating in the 2013 WNIT.

San José State is on the road at San Diego State (27-7, 15-1 MW) on Jan. 22. The Aztecs had the best conference record in the regular season and reached the second round of the 2013 WNIT.

Boise State (11-19, 4-12 MW) comes to San Jose on Jan. 25 followed by a trip to UNLV (12-19, 8-8 MW) to play on Jan. 29. These two contests complete the single-game home-and-home portion of the conference schedule.

New Mexico is welcomed to the Event Center on Feb. 1 followed by Fresno State (24-9, 13-3 MW) on Feb. 8. The Bulldogs won last year's conference tournament and earned the automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA Tournament.

The Spartans next head out for their second two-game conference road trip beginning at Air Force on Feb. 12 and then Wyoming on Feb. 15. They host Nevada on Feb. 19 and San Diego State on Feb. 26.
