Women's Basketball End of Year Celebration

San Jose, Calif. - The 2011-12 San Jose State women's basketball team and its supporters will gather on Wednesday, March 21 at 6:00 p.m., in the Gold Room of the Simpkins Stadium Center, to celebrate the season and honor its accomplishments with its annual awards banquet.

Head Coach Tim La Kose, who earned Coach of the Year honors from the Western Athletic Conference (WAC), led the Spartans to the fifth-best win/loss turnaround in the NCAA this year.  The team's 11 total wins are the most in a season since 2005-06.

Senior Brittany Johnson and freshman Ta'Rea Cunnigan also garnered end of the year recognition from the WAC.  Johnson, the WAC's leading scorer and the 19thleading scorer in the nation, received first-team All-WAC honors.  Cunnigan, the leading scorer among all freshmen in the conference, was named to the All-Freshman team.

The event features a meet-and-greet session with the 2011-12 players and coaches along with a silent auction, dinner and an awards presentation.
