Women's Hoops Falls In Regular Season Finale

San Marcos. Texas - The Texas State Bobcats shot 55 percent from the floor including 12-of-25 from 3-point range and defeated the San Jose State women's basketball team 100-67 in the Strahan Coliseum in both team's regular season finale. 

Diamond Ford, the leading scorer in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC), had a game-high 25 points on 11-for-23 shooting and Ashley Ezeh was 9-for-11 and scored 23 points in the win.

San Jose State (11-18, 8-10 WAC) committed 23 turnovers, which led to 35 Bobcat points and shot 38 percent from the floor.  The Spartans were led by Riana Byrd with 15 points and 17 rebounds.  Ta'Rea Cunnigan had 16 points and Emily Schill added 12.

Texas State (10-19, 4-14 WAC) was hot from the get go.  They hit four of their first five from 3-point range and had a 14-6 lead by the first media timeout. The made three more treys, and made a total of seven in the half and took a 49-34 lead into the half.

In the second half the hot shooting continued as Texas State made 22-of-39 shots, 10 more than the Spartans and won going away 100-67.

The 100 points are the most the Spartans have allowed this season and the most since Texas State scored 96 against them in a 98-96 loss in the Event Center. 

San Jose State's next game will be on Wednesday, March 13 at the WAC Basketball Tournament in Las Vegas, Nev.
