The game was a seesaw battle throughout the first 30 minutes, which saw eight lead changes and neither team able to establish more than a seven-point advantage.  Wyoming (21-8, 13-5 MW) led by five after the first quarter, but the Spartans battled back and took the lead on a West three-pointer with 7:00 minutes to go before the half.

San Jose State (10-20, 7-11 MW), which hit 8-of-17 in the second quarter, built its biggest lead, six points, on a pair of Ramos free throws with 1:21 to go before intermission and took a 34-30 lead in to the locker room.

Wyoming tied the game up and took a lead they would not relinquish two minutes into the fourth quarter.  The Spartans were getting the ball in good spots, but just couldn’t hit the shots.  The Cowgirls made the most of their opportunities, hitting 7-of-11 in the quarter as well as 6-of-11 from the line to earn the nine-point victory.

The Spartans are the eighth seed in next week’s Mountain West Tournament and will play San Diego State on Monday at 2:00 p.m. in Thomas & Mack Arena in Las Vegas.
