Fort Collins, Colo. - The San Jose State women's basketball team had a five-point lead with 49 second to play and looked like it was headed to the program's first win in Fort Collins in eight tries, but Colorado State reeled off five-straight points to send the game to overtime and won it in the extra period by a final score of 70-67 on Wednesday night.

Dezz Ramos led all scorers with 34 points, her fourth 30+ point effort of the season.  She has scored 829 points in 43 games for San Jose State and is just 171 from joining Lora Alexander as the only players in program history to score 1,000 points in their first two years as a Spartan.

Jasmine Smith, who passed 1,000 career points in the team's last game finished with 13 and 15 rebounds.  It's her third consecutive double double and moved her into 14th place on the program's career-scoring list.  In addition, Smith is 10 rebounds from becoming just the fifth player in San Jose State women's basketball history to grab 700 rebounds and score 1,000 points.

Paris Baird led everyone on the boards with a career-high 19 rebounds.  She finished the game two rebounds shy of tying Rhoda Chew for the SJSU single-game record of 21.  Baird chipped in seven points and two assists.

Colorado State (10-5, 2-1 MW) held a 15-9 lead after the first quarter and on four occasions built its advantage to as many as 12 points, the last coming with 6:50 to play in the third period.  But despite holding the lead from the opening tip, the Rams couldn't shake the Spartans and were up 45-40 starting the fourth quarter.

From there SJSU (4-10, 1-1 MW) twice built its advantage to five points, the last coming on a Ramos jumper with 2:29 to play.  San Jose State still led by five with 49 second to go when Ellen Nystrom, who led CSU with 32 points and 14 rebounds, was fouled and knocked two free throws trim the lead to 58-55 and she sent the game into overtime on a three-pointer with 38 seconds to go.

Baird scored the first bucket in overtime to give the Spartans a 60-58 lead and Elin Gustavsson, who was the other standout for the Rams with 20 points and 11 rebounds, tied it at 60-60 on a layup with 3:47 to play.   While San Jose State missed 3-of-4 free throws, the Rams built a six-point lead, 67-61 with 54 seconds left.

Myzhanique Ladd hit a clutch three-pointer and was fouled on the play, but couldn't convert the four-point play.  Ramos hit a three with seven seconds left to make it a one-point game 68-67.  The Spartans were forced to foul, Colorado State hit the free throws and secured the 70-67 victory.

San Jose State had its best night on the boards with a 56-to-48 advantage over the Rams and bested CSU 15-4 in second chance points.  Colorado State dominated in the paint 44-to-20, but SJSU made nine threes to its opponents two.
