Erica Sahli & Chris Hart Named Cross Country MVP's

Erica Sahli, a two-time All-Western Athletic Conference selection, and Chris Hart, who had two top-20 finishes in 2007, were named the Most Valuable Runners for the San Jose State University women’s and men’s cross country teams, respectively, at the teams’ annual awards banquet.

Sahli, a senior from Villa Park, Calif., led the Spartans with a pair of top-10 placings in seven meets during the 2007 season. One of two co-captains, she finished in the top-20 15 times in her last 23 competitions dating back to the 2005 season.

Hart, a senior from Citrus Heights, Calif., was the Spartans’ top finisher at the 2007 Western Athletic Conference Championship placing 18th on the 8k course in Logan, Utah.

Freshmen Luke Galvan and Arely Marquez received the Newcomer Award for the men’s and women’s team respectively. Galvan’s seventh place finish at the season-opening USF Invitational was the best by a San Jose State men’s runner this season. Marquez was the only runner on the women’s team with three top-25 finishes in 2007.

Jenna Hicks of the women’s team was named Most Improved. David Haefele received the Spartan Award.
