Men's Cross Country Seventh At WAC Championship

Las Cruces, N.M.-----As he has done the entire season, David Haefele was the top finisher for San Jose State University at the 2008 Western Athletic Conference Championship.

    The junior from Orange, Calif., posted a time of 28:12.50 on the 8,000 meter course at the New Mexico State University Golf Course to finish 39th. Not far behind was sophomore Alan Shelton, who was 42nd in a time of 28:31.10.

    In the team competition, the Spartans were seventh with 214 points. Utah State, with 47, edged out Boise State, which scored 56, and Fresno State, third with 65.

    Idaho, Louisiana Tech and New Mexico State also finished ahead of San Jose State.

    After Haefele and Shelton, Luke Galvan was 48th, Sean Dundon, 51st; Cameron Duran, 52nd; Alex Esparza, 55th; David Blausey, 56th; and Gordie Throne, 57th.

    Utah State’s Jason Holt was the individual winner in a time of 25:34.80.
