Men's Cross Country Heads To WAC Championship

Following a first-place finish at the Santa Clara Bronco Open, San Jose State University hopes to keep its momentum going at the 2008 Western Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships. This year’s championship takes place, Saturday, November 1, at the New Mexico State University Golf Course in Las Cruces, N.M.

In recent meets, the Spartans were third at the Gator Invitational hosted by San Francisco State prior to taking top honors at the race hosted by Santa Clara University on October 18.

San Jose State, fifth at the 2007 conference meet, has two returning runners who finished in the top-25 individually a year ago. David Haefele was 23rd and Luke Galvan was 25th.

Utah State is the three-time defending champion. Fresno State, Boise State, Idaho, Louisiana Tech and host New Mexico State join the Spartans competing for 2008 top honors in the team and individual competitions.

After the WAC Championship selected runners will compete at the NCAA West Regional Championship hosted by Stanford University on November 15.
