Men's Cross Country First At Santa Clara Bronco Open

Sunnyvale, Calif. The San Jose State University men’s cross country team competed in final meet of the regular season at the Santa Clara Bronco Open on Saturday, October 18.

The Spartans finished in first place in a field of eight teams in the men’s 8K race at the Baylands Park in Sunnyvale, Calif.

Among the 64 competitors, the Spartan placed five runners in the top-25, led by senior Sean Dundon who clocked the team’s fastest time and placed 7th overall with a 27:21.  Freshman Alex Esparza, ran the second-quickest time for the Spartans and finished 11th overall with a time of 27:32.

Freshman Devin Zimmerman ran a 27:44, good for a 15th place finish.  Luke Galvan, a sophomore, finished 21st with a 28:08 clocking and freshman Antonio Cantu finished 28th in 28:25.

Senior Gordie Throne crossed the line with a 29:38 for 40th place.  

The Spartans return to action at 8:00 a.m. on November 1, when they compete in the WAC Championships in Las Cruces, N.M.
