Heard, Marca lead SJSU at Stanford Invitational

STANFORD, Calif. -- Matt Heard and Trevor Marca were the top two San Jose State University finishers in the men's open university division race at the Stanford Invitational cross country meet Saturday (Sept. 30).

Heard completed the 8,000 meter course in 26:35, to place 27th overall. Marca finished 31st in 26:44.

The Spartans finished 11th in the 24-team field, scoring 275 points.

The other SJSU runners, their placing and times, were:

    Jason Blair -- 64th in 27:36
    Robby Phillip -- 78th in 27:48
    Eric Wackenstedt -- 89th in 28:01
    Brady Svilich -- 93rd in 28:04
    Will Crane -- 99th in 28:09
    Jesse McLeod -- 120th in 28:46
    David Leon -- 137th in 29:22

    The Spartans return to action Oct. 7 at the Long Beach Invitational.
