Haefele Leads Spartans At Stanford Invitational

Stanford, Calif.-----Junior David Haefele was San Jose State University’s top finisher for the third time this season as the Spartans finished 21st in the 28-team field at the Stanford Invitational.

Haefele covered 8,000 meters on the Stanford University campus in 26:21, his second best 8,000-meter time of the season, and placed 80th in the 234-runner field.

Sean Dundon (26:53), Alan Shelton (27:35), Luke Galvan (27:51), Devin Zimmerman (28:03), David Blausey (28:41), Cameron Duran (30:44) and Gordie Throne (31:57) also competed for San Jose State. Dundon, Shelton and Galvan all posted better 8k times than in the previous meet in Memphis, Tenn., on September 13.

“This meet was a learning experience for us with so many outstanding teams in the field. It will help us grow the rest of the season and we should see the benefits from this meet by the time we get to the WAC Championship,” said head coach Augie Argabright.

The Spartans return to action, Friday, October 10, at the San Francisco State Invitational.
