Cross Country Heads East For A Twilight Classic

The San Jose State men's cross country team will literally go across the country this Saturday September 25, to compete in the Brooks Memphis Twilight Classic in Memphis, Tennessee.

The 8K race on all Bermuda grass will start at 9:00 p.m. CST, and will end as the final runner crosses the finish line inside the 6,000-seat Mike Rose Stadium.

"Our goal this weekend is to improve from our last performance in this race which was eighth place out of 24 teams back in 2008," said Spartans head coach Augie Argabright. "If we keep the pack tight then we should have a successful day on Saturday."

The Spartans are coming off of a 14th place finish in the 25-team field at the UC Riverside Invitational on September 18.

San Jose State has run two races so far in 2010. Alfredo Coronado has been the team's top finisher in those two races, and both of his performances lead to Western Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week awards.
