Coronado Named Verizon Wireless WAC Athlete Of The Week

DENVER, Colo. -- Alfredo Coronado of the San Jose State men's cross country team has been named the Verizon Wireless Western Athletic Conference Athlete of the week for the week of Sept. 15-21.

This is the second time in as many races during the 2010 season that Coronado has received the award.

The senior from Santa Clarita, Calif., ran the 8K course at the UC Riverside Invitational in 24:24.2, giving him an eighth place finish.

There were 322 individuals in the field representing 25 different schools, including nationally ranked BYU (No. 16), and regionally ranked UC Riverside and UC Santa Barbara.

Coronado and the Spartans will be running again this Saturday, September 25, at the Brooks Memphis Twilight Classic in Memphis, Tennessee.

Other nominations for this week's award were: Barry Britt, Idaho; Kevin Taft, New Mexico State; Brian McKenna, Utah State.
