The San Jose State men and women's cross country teams will be back in action this Saturday, September 19, at the UC Riverside Invitational in Riverside, California.
The women's team is coming off of a strong third place finish in the 24-team field at the Brooks Memphis Twilight Classic back on September 5. Senior Nisha Richardson was the Spartans top finisher, coming in 13th place. Not far behind, and coming in 15th place for San Jose State was Elizabeth Raymond.
A second women's team joined the Spartan men's team at the USF Invitational in San Francisco, California. The women's campaign that ended in a seventh place finish out of ten, was led by Arely Marquez who finished in 37th place.
The men finished third out of eight and were led by newly acquired Alfredo Coronado who finished in fifth place overall, and senior David Haefele who finished 19th. Irvin Garcia and Sterling Granger finished 23rd and 25th respectively, giving the Spartans four runners inside the top 25.
Head coach Augie Argabright had this to say about the upcoming race. "There is going to be some very tough competition in both the men's and women's race. Each field includes around 450 entries including a handful of ranked teams in the nation. I feel good about our teams' chance to be good competition in a huge field of runners."
