Two Runners In Top-Five For Men's Cross Country

Mueen Ghoury led the San Jose State men's cross country team with a second place finish in a dual meet with CSU Northridge at the Aztec Invitational on September 15.

The Spartans finished in second place with a score of 32, nine points more than the winning Matadors.

Ghoury finished the 8K course through Balboa Park in 28:19.2. Matthew Stephens finished in 29:54.6 and rounded out the top-five individuals.

Nicholas Sherrell came in 6th place with a time of 30:04.4 while Brandon Jauregui (31:13.1, 9th) Alexander Selevos (31:32.9, 10th) and Imran Zaman (33:53.4, 13th) rounded out the scorers for San Jose State.

I thought we had a couple of good times for a course with many hills," said Spartans' head coach Ron Davis. "We'll get back to working hard in practice."

San Jose State has two weeks to prepare for their next race at the Stanford Invitational on September 29.
