Men's Cross Country Eighth at Brooks Memphis Twilight Classic

Memphis, Tenn. The San Jose State University men’s cross country team competed in their second meet of the season at the Mike Rose Soccer Stadium on Saturday, September 13.

The Spartans finished in eighth place of a 29 team field in the men’s 8K race at the 6th Annual Brooks Memphis Twilight Cross Country Classic, the largest night-time cross country meet East of the Mississippi River.

Spartan junior David Haefele clocked the team’s fastest time and placed 30th overall with a 26:47.38 clocking.  Alan Shelton, a sophomore, ran he second-quickest time for the Spartans for 38th overall with a time of 26:57.05. 

Senior Sean Dundon finished with the third fastest time for the Spartans, three places behind Shelton in 41st place with a time of 27:03.18.  Luke Galvan turned in a time of 28:04.57.  He was the fourth fastest Spartan and 69th overall.

Freshman Cameron Duran finished as the fifth fastest Spartan.  He completed his second collegiate race in 28:33.53, which was good for an 88th place showing.

Sophomore David Blausey finished 135th with a time of 29:52.70 and Gordie Throne, a senior, crossed the line in a time of 31:48.12, for a 180th place finish.

The Spartans return to action at 4:00 p.m. on September 27, when they compete in the Stanford Invitational in Stanford, Calif.
