Philipp Signs With Spartan's Cross Country Team

San Jose, Calif -- Robby Philipp, a senior at Mililani High School in Mililani, Hawaii, has signed a letter of intent to run for the men's cross country team at San Jose State University.

Philipp was named the 1999 Cross Country Runner of the year in Hawaii and won the state cross country championships.

He won the state 1500-meter Championship in 1999 and the 1600 meter Championship in 1998. He was also a starter on the state runner-up soccer team. "Robby is one of the most decorated runners in Hawaii history. We are very excited he chose to be a Spartan," says Head Cross Country Coach Augie Argabright.

Brady Svilich and Erik Wackenstedt will also compete for the Spartans in the fall. Svilich, a senior at Yreka High School, was named to the first team All-Northern section Cross Country team in 1999 and was a Cross Country State Meet Qualifier. Wackenstedt was named to the first team All-Ventura County Cross Country team and also help lead Oak Park High School to a fourth place finish.

Philipp, Svilich, and Wackenstedt are apart of cross country recruiting class that already includes Jesse McLeod and Megan Stone.
