Spartan Men’s Distance Runners To Compete At Two Meets On April 14

April 12, 2016

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San José State University men’s distance runners will be competing as a split squad this week at the Mt. Sac Relays in Norwalk, Calif. and Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif. on Thursday, April 14.

Competing at the Mt. Sac Relays will be Ben Branagh and Jose Piña in the 10,000m, the first time either will be running in that distance this spring season.

“The Mt. Sac 10K will be a fantastic opportunity for Ben and Jose,” said Spartans cross country coach Brad Wick.  “Both of their races should go fast enough to qualify them for the first round of nationals so they can just focus on competing and the time will take care of itself.  There isn't a better meet for the 10,000m anywhere in the country.  Both Ben and Jose are ready for their best races of the season.”

Running in the 5,000m at the Bryan Clay Invitational will be Raul Rodarte.

“Bryan Clay invite will be very competitive and a good opportunity for Raul to run a season best,” said Wick.

This will be Rodarte’s second 5,000m race of the spring season after running a 15:12.19 at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival on April 1.
