PALO ALTO, Calif. - The San José State men's cross country team wrapped up the 2014 season at the NCAA West Regional in Palo, Alto, Calif., with an 18th place finish on Friday at the Stanford Golf Course.

Overall the guys had a good meet," said assistant coach Brad Wick. "Josue wasn't able recover from his calf injury, but Ben had an outstanding race finishing 45th overall, 115 places better than a year ago. Jannik and Craig also had solid days."


Ben Branagh finished in the top-50 for the Spartans with a time of 30:24.9, while Jannik Ernst (84th, 31:09.5), Craig Huff (101st, 31:22.2), Josue Gonzalez (145th, 32:27.4), and Ian Young (192nd, 35:11.9) rounded out the field for SJSU.

Oregon nabbed the top spot in the 2014 West Regional, placing a pair of runners in the top-10. Maxim Korolev of Stanford finished ahead of the field of 192, crossing the finish line in 29:33.5.
