Men's Water Polo Set To Return To San Jose State

Sept. 22, 2014

Fellow Spartans & water polo supporters,

We have really good news and your help is needed.

First, the news.

Men's Water Polo is back at San Jose State for the 2015 season! The last time the Spartan men's team was in the pool was in 1981.

After University approval, San Jose State is reinstating men's water polo and it will have a tremendous impact on every level of the sport we love!

San Jose State men's water polo had a long and rich tradition, produced countless coaches and officials for the sport and we want to make that happen again. The impact of providing more competitive opportunities for skilled water polo players and on developing new teachers and coaches will be fantastic.

We are reaching out to our alumni and anyone else who loves and plays the sport. We know you love the sport of water polo, because it has impacted your life in a positive way.

We need your help.

At the start, San José State men's water polo will be completely self-funded. This is where we need your help.

Attached are a Pledge Form and a description of San Jose State's rich history of men's water polo. There are some vintage pictures. See if you are in any of them and relive why you enjoyed water polo so much.

We are asking you to use the pledge form and make an annual financial commitment for the next five years. For the alumni, this is your chance to financially support and follow your program and your school! Bill Simpkins, Bill Gerdts, Ed Samuels, Bruce Watson, John Wagner and Art Lambert make up the committee that is leading the fundraising effort.

Share their passion and join their commitment to returning San José State men's water polo to one of the top programs in the country. Make your pledge today and make Spartans everywhere proud!

For supporters of the sport of water polo, this is your chance to help the sport that has been good to you.

If you have any questions, please ask. We would love to hear from every one of you.
