Each Monday check out This Week in San José State Athletics to catch up on last week's action and see what's ahead for the Spartans!

Football (0-2, 0-0 Mountain West)

Last Week: SJSU lost at Washington State 31-0 Saturday evening.

This Week: San José State heads to Oregon to face the nationally-ranked Ducks this Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. Fans can watch on the Pac-12 Network and listen on the Spartan Radio Network

Spartan Fact: San José State's three interceptions against Washington State has the Spartans tied for fifth nationally in team interceptions with four entering the Oregon game.

Sept. 15 - at Oregon, 2 p.m. - Pac-12 Network, Spartan Radio Network

Volleyball (4-2, 0-0 Mountain West)

Last Week: San José State won the Hampton Inn & Suites Northern Colorado Classic with a 3-0 record, defeating Northern Colorado (3-0), Alabama State (3-0) and Pacific (3-2).

This Week: The Spartans make their second trip to the state of Florida this season, this time to Boca Raton for the Owls Classic hosted by Florida Atlantic.


 

 

Spartan Fact: Three Spartans were named to the all-tournament team - Fernanda Vido (MVP), Caitlin Bettenay, Luiza Andrade.

Sept. 14 - vs. North Florida, 10 a.m. ET/7 a.m. PT

Sept. 14 - at Florida Atlantic, 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT

Sept. 15 - vs. South Dakota State, 10 a.m. ET/7 a.m. PT

Women's Soccer (1-3-2, 0-0-0 Mountain West)

Last week: The Spartans split two matches last week, falling to Cal State Fullerton, 2-0, last Thursday, but rebounded to defeat UC Davis 1-0 (2OT) Sunday afternoon.

This Week: SJSU plays the final non-conference match of the season on Friday at UC Riverside.

Spartan Fact: Hannah Mathews scored her first career goal in the Spartans 1-0 victory over UC Davis.

Sept. 14 - at UC Riverside, 5 p.m.

Men's Soccer (1-3-1, 0-0-0 Western Athletic)

Last week: The Spartans lost 5-1 at Saint Mary’s last Thursday.

This Week: San José State hosts the final two non-conference matches of the season - San Francisco Monday night and Pacific on Sunday night.

Spartan Fact: Danny Sanchez scored his first goal of the season against Saint Mary’s.

Upcoming Schedule

Sept. 10 - San Francisco, 6:30 p.m.

Sept. 16 - Pacific, 6:30 p.m.

Both matches played at the Spartan Soccer Complex.

Women's Golf

This Week: The Spartans are competing on Monday and Tuesday at the Minnesota Invitational at the Prestwick Golf Club in Woodbury, Minn. Live scoring can be followed at http://results.golfstat.com/public/leaderboards/gsnav.cfm?pg=team&tid=16428

Spartan Fact: The Spartans will have four new faces on the course this tournament, two players - Natasha Andrea Oon and Samantha Bruce, and two coaches - head coach Dana Dormann and assistant coach Pat Hurst.

Men’s Water Polo

Last Week: The Spartans opened the season by hosting UC Davis. The Spartans lost 16-8 to the Aggies

This Week: The team travels to the Aggie Roundup hosted by UC Davis on the 15th and 16th.

Spartan Fact: Seven Spartans scored in the opening match of the year, led by Neil Arnett with two goals.

Sept. 15 - vs. Chapman, 9:15 a.m.

Sept. 15 - vs. Cal-Baptist, 2:15 p.m.

Sept. 16 - vs. George Washington, 8:15 a.m.

Sept. 16 - vs. Fresno Pacific, 12:00 p.m.
