Diaz scored ten goals in 2005, including five game-winners. The Spartans' leading scorer for a team that finished one point behind New Mexico in the final MPSF standings, he also added two assists for 22 points. In his final game of his career at Sacramento State, Diaz scored two goals, including the game-winner, helping the Spartans to defeat a Hornet team that had not lost at home all season.
In the coming weeks, Diaz will attend the invitation-only Chivas USA and L.A. Galaxy camps in attempts to continue his playing career at the next level.
"He had a great season and he worked awfully hard for that," head coach Gary St. Clair said. "He deserved to be recognized as one of the best players in the region."
