Men's Soccer: Three Spartans Named To NSCAA All-American Teams

Ryan Suarez, Jorge Martinez and Chris Humphreys of the San Jose State University men's soccer team were named to the NSCAA/adidas All-American teams. The teams were selected in a nationwide vote of NSCAA member coaches and released Thursday.

Suarez and Martinez were first team selections, while Humphreys was a second team pick.

Suarez, a senior defender from Roseville, Calif., anchored the Spartan defense. He scored five goals and had three assists during the season. He previously was named the Player of the Year in the Mountain Division of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation.

Martinez, a senior midfielder from Redwood City, Calif., led San Jose State in scoring with 17 goals and 11 assists for 45 points. He had seven game-winning goals. He was a MPSF Mountain Division first-team selection.

Humphreys, a senior from Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., allowed 12 goals in 22 games, and finished with a 0.59 Goals Against Average. He set a school record with 14 shutouts during the year, and tied a school record with 18 career shutouts. He also was a first-team MPSF Mountain Division pick.
