Men's soccer closes season with 2-0 loss to MPSF champion New Mexico

Albuquerque, N.M.-----Jeff Rowland scored the first goal and assisted on the other as the University of New Mexico shut out San Jose State University, 2-0, in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men’s soccer regular-season finale for both teams.

New Mexico (16-1-1, 10-1-1 MPSF) won its fifth straight match and completed a season sweep of San Jose State (5-13-1, 4-8 MPSF).
Rowland, the Lobos’ leading scorer, scored his 18th goal of the season at 11:43 heading in a free kick from teammate Ricky Francis. Rowland fed a pass to Jeremy Brown who went on to score his first goal of the season at 83:17.

The Spartans, who finished the season losing their last four games, was out-shot 16-5. San Jose State goalkeeper Daniel Benton was credited with six saves while New Mexico’s Andrew Weber made two saves.
