San Jose, Calif. - The San José State men's soccer team travels to the Air Force Academy, host of the 2013 Western Athletic Conference Championship Tournament, and face the UNLV Rebels in the opening round on Thursday.

Forward Rory Knibbs has been named to the All-Western Athletic Conference second-team by a vote of the league's eight head coaches.

Knibbs, a freshman from London, England, led the Spartans with seven goals, 16 points, 40 shots, 25 shots on goal and two game winners.  In addition, he had two assists.

In 10 WAC games he ranked second in goals (6), points (13) and game winners (2).  He found the back of the net twice versus Grand Canyon (10/25) and again against Kansas City (11/1) the next week and is one of three players in WAC competition to have two or more multi-goal games.


The Rebels enter the tournament with a 7-10-1 record and are the third seed.  The teams met twice this season, with each side earning a 1-0 win on its home field.

UNLV's leading scorer is Rodrigo Fuentes (6 G, 4 A, 16 pts.).  Along with Fuentes, Joaquin Rivas (5 G, 3 A, 13 pts.) and Salvador Bernal (4 G, 4 A, 12 pts.) are the top point getters.

Ryan Harding, with a 0.91 GAA and .883 save %, has spent the majority of time in goal for the Rebels.

Head Coach Rich Ryerson is in his fourth season leading the UNLV program. He brought a 15-39-3 career record into this season.
