BERKELEY, Calif. (November 4) -- Jorge Martinez and Dan Fife both scored a goal and added an assist to lift San Jose State to a 3-2 win over California today (Friday). The game was part of the adidas-Legacy Classic hosted by Cal. The Spartans finish the regular season undefeated with an 18-0-1 record.
Isaias Bardales gave San Jose State a 1-0 lead on a breakaway goal at the 19:15 mark. Martinez was credited with an assist on the play. California tied the score at the 28:50 mark.
The Spartans took control in the second half. Martinez netted a goal following a corner kick in the 63rd minute and Fife scored on a penalty kick with eight minutes left in regulation. Fife and Francisco Martinez assisted on Jorge Martinez' goal. Cal ended the scoring with a goal in the final minute.
San Jose State's next game will be on Friday, Nov. 10, when the Spartans meet UC Irvine in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation playoffs. The game is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. at Titan Stadium on the Cal State Fullerton campus.
