Men's soccer wins fourth consecutive match with 4-2 victory at Air Force

AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo.-----Freshman Randy Poggio broke a 10-game scoreless streak with two goals to help the San Jose State University men1s soccer team beat Air Force, 4-2, in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match Sunday afternoon at the Cadet Soccer Stadium.

Sophomore Marcus Sagastume scored the opening goal for Air Force (7-6-1, 1-1-0 MPSF) in the second minute, with an assist from sophomore Tino Diaz. The Spartans (8-7-0, 2-0-0 MPSF) answered at the 17-minute mark with a header from Poggio to tie the game halfway through the first period. Freshman Colin Eames put the Falcons up again when he scored a goal in the 28th minute, with an assist from senior Daniel Wassson.

San Jose shut out Air Force in the second half. The Spartans scored 25 seconds into the second half for the tie when freshman Johnny Gonzalez netted a blocked corner kick. Junior Tomislav Jozinovic scored another goal for San Jose State in the 70th minute to put the Spartans up before Poggio's second goal.

San Jose State had 13 shots with five of them goal, while Air Force had 12 shots with eight of them on goal.

The Spartans continue MPSF play when they travel to San Diego, Calif. to meet San Diego State. The Spartans return home to host UNLV on Friday, Nov. 1 for a 7:30 p.m. game at Spartan Stadium.
