Colorado Springs, Colo.----San Jose State men's soccer held scoreless in a 2-0 match at Air Force on Friday, October 22. The Spartans fall to 7-6-2 overall and 1-3-2 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, while the Falcons improve to 5-9-0 overall and 3-3-0 in league play.
The Falcons came out of the gate with a couple early shots, placing two shots on goal before John Tilton scored his first goal of the season in the 11th minute by heading a corner kick from Zane Dydasco. Goalkeeper Jonathan Lester grabbed four saves in the first half, while the Spartans were held to three shots.
San Jose State's momentum changed after the half netting nine shots, four on goal. Nick Cashmere led the team with four shots and Josh Boemecke and Allen La Spina grabbed a pair apiece. Looking for the equalizer, La Spina took a hard shot from the right corner box in the 86th minute, but Underwood grabbed the ball for his third save of the game. With less than three minutes remaining in regulation time, Conor Henry added an insurance goal after firing a shot from 15 yards low and to the right of Lester.
Both goalkeepers, Jonathan Lester and Matt Underwood, made four saves apiece.
San Jose State will head into the city to face Denver (5-5-4, 2-2-2 MPSF) on Sunday, October 24. Kick-off is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. (MT).
