Ismael Ibarra Named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Brine Player of the Week
Woodland, Calif. SAN JOSE STATE junior forward Ismael Ibarra (Salinas, CA; Hartnell College) was named this week’s MPSF Brine Player of the Week for his offensive leadership in guiding the Spartans to two 3-2 overtime MPSF conference road wins, including a victory over No. 2 ranked NEW MEXICO. Ibarra produced two goals and three assists over the weekend to keep the Spartans undefeated in MPSF action. After coming off the bench against UNLV, Ibarra scored the game-tying goal and the game-winning goal in overtime and followed that with a start and assists on both the gametying and game-winning goals in Sunday’s upset victory over the Lobos.
"Ismael can score the type of goals that only a handful of players in the country can score," Spartan head coach Gary St. Clair said. "His two goals this weekend were of that variety."
