Men's soccer drops 1-0 decision to UNLV

San Jose, Calif.-----Rod Dyachenko scored the only goal of the game at 18:37 in the first half as UNLV defeated San Jose State University, 1-0, in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men’s soccer contest.

Dyachenko, who kicked the ball past San Jose State goalkeeper Daniel Benton into the top right corner of the net for his third goal of the season, was assisted on the play by Chris Wessel.

"Our guys worked hard. I was really proud of our effort. It was unfortunate the breaks did not go our way," said San Jose State coach Gary St. Clair, whose team failed to win for the ninth straight outing.

Peter Clitheroe recorded his third shutout of the season for UNLV (4-7-0, 3-2 MPSF). He was credited with five saves as the Rebels won their third contest in a row, all in conference action.

Benton was credited with two saves as UNLV was able to get off only four shots in the contest compared to the Spartans’ 13.

San Jose State (1-9-1, 0-4 MPSF) hosts San Diego State, Sunday, October 17, in a 1:00 p.m. match at the Spartan Soccer Field on 10th & Humboldt streets.
