Men's Soccer Defeats UNLV 3-2, Improves to 2-0 in MPSF Action

Las Vegas, Nev.---After getting down 2-0 early in the game, the Spartan men's soccer team (6-3-2, 2-0) fired back three goals in a row to defeat UNLV (2-8, 0-3) 3-2 in overtime.

The game opened with UNLV scoring on consecutive goals by Rod Dyachenko, the first unassisted and the second assisted by Deshawn Woolery and Lamar Neagle.  The Spartans showed the character that they'd shown throughout the season, coming back to score three unanswered goals.  The first goal was scored by Nelson Diaz at 74:26, with assists from Ismael Ibarra and Johnny Gonzalez.  Ibarra scored the next two goals.  The first came at 85:57 and the second at 91:39, both on assists from Gavin Wenyon.  Ibarra's game-tying goal was a header off of a long free kick from midfield by Wenyon and the second was a header from Wenyon's corner kick.

The Spartans take on No. 2 New Mexico on the road Sunday, Oct. 16 at 2 p.m.
