The San José State men's soccer team look for their first conference win when they host Houston Baptist on Friday, October 14 and Incarnate Word on Sunday, October 16.

KNIBBS' WAC CAREER SNAPSHOT

Three-time All-WAC  honoree Rory Knibbs is just three points back (38) of the all-time mark for points (41) in WAC matches and sits one goal back (18), behind Tulsa's Donvan Bradshaw (19) who played from 1996-99.

COLUNGA'S WAC CAREER SNAPSHOT

Two-time ALL-WAC honoree Jonathan Colunga is one assist back (10) of SMU's Daniel Hernandez (1996-97) on the all-time mark for assists in WAC matches. 

NATIONAL RANKING STATUS FOR TUCAKOVIC:

Goalkeeper Nedin Tucakovic is second in the NCAA in goalie minutes played with 1249:42 and fourth in total saves (68). 

PENALTY KICK KILLER:

Tucakovic has stopped both penalty kick attempts this season, one against Pacific and the other against UC Riverside.  Against Pacific, Tucakovic made his save with the score tied at 2-2, which the Spartans went on to win, 3-2.  Against UCR, Tucakovic kept the score tied at 1-1 with his save and the game eventually ended in a 2-2 tie.

TREND OF FALLING BEHIND:

In each of the last 12 matches, the Spartans have allowed the opponent to score the first goal, going 1-10-1 in the span, with the sole win coming against Pacific.  SJSU came back to tie the score in seven of those 12 matches but are only 1-5-1 in them. 

PLAYING TIME:

Twenty-four of the 27 players on the roster have played this season.  Goalkeepers Rodrigo Reyes-Zavalza, Kris Donaldson and Joseph Kay have yet to play this season.   Defenseman Kyle O'Mahoney and goalkeeper Nedin Tucakovic are the only three that have started all 13 Spartan games.  Eight Spartans have played in all 13 games: Alex Alcaraz, Jonathan Colunga, Rory Knibbs, Kyle O'Mahoney, Jeremy Romero, Leonardo Silva, Nedin Tucakovic and Carlos Valdovinos.

SERIES HISTORY WITH HOUSTON BAPTIST:

San José State and Houston Baptist are tied in the all-time series, 3-3-0, dating back to 2009.  Spartans head coach Simon Tobin is 1-1-0 against Houston Baptist in his two seasons at SJSU.   SJSU won the last match at San Jose, 3-1, in 2014.
