San Jose, Calif. - Striker Garret Foster, a redshirt freshman out of Livermore, Calif., and Granada High School, was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Player of the Week for the week of October 1-7.
Foster came off the bench to score both game-winners as the Spartans, the only unbeaten team in the MPSF, defeated No. 5 regionally-ranked CSU Bakersfield and UNLV on the road by identical 2-1 scores.
Foster took three shots on the weekend, all on goal, with two finding the back of the net for the decisive scores. In the win at CSU Bakersfield, the Spartans snapped the 'Runners' seven-game unbeaten streak.
In addition, Foster received MPSF Player of the Week honors from the web site Collegesportsmadness.com.
This is the first Player of the Week honor Foster has received and the second of the year for a San Jose State men's soccer player.
