WOODLAND, Calif. – San Jose State junior sweeper Chris Mackey was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation BRINE "Player of the Week" for the week ending October 4.

Mackey, from Eugene, Ore., anchored a San Jose State defense that allowed just nine shots in the Spartans wins last week over Cal State Monterey Bay, 3-1, and the University of San Francisco, 3-0.

The two wins boosted San Jose State’s season record to 6-1-2. The Spartans have not lost in their last five matches.

Mackey is the second San Jose State player in the last two weeks to receive "Player of the Week" honors from the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation. Forward Randy Poggio was the "Player of the Week" for the week ending September 27.
