San Jose—Randy Poggio scored a goal in each half to lead the San Jose State men’s soccer team to 2-0 victory over San Francisco Sunday evening in a non-conference match at Spartan Stadium.

Poggio scored his first goal at 18:38 on a header into the goal as Don keeper Mark Muleady came out to challenge. Frank Sanfilippo gave Poggio the pass for the only assist on the goal.

Poggio’s second goal of the evening was the Spartans’ third of the match. He and Tim McKinney were passing the ball between the two before Poggio shot on goal at the 86:28 mark of the match.

Johnny Gonzales scored the Spartans’ second goal at 72:38. He shot the ball from the left side and bent it into the right side of the net. Jose Flores and Randy Poggio started the attack for San Jose State and were credited with the assists on the goal.

San Jose State will now travel to CS Northridge on Friday afternoon and at Loyola Marymount on Sunday.
